Patriot's Promise hosted its largest-ever career fair — bringing together more than 500 job-seeking veterans and 80 employer partners across defense, technology, logistics, and healthcare.
The Orange County Convention Center's main hall filled with 500 veterans and 80 employers.
By 8 a.m., the Orange County Convention Center's main hall was already buzzing. Rows of employer booths stretched from wall to wall. Veterans — some still in service-dress uniforms, others in suits they'd purchased specifically for this day — moved purposefully through the space, resumes in hand, ready to translate years of military precision into civilian opportunity.
The 2026 Veteran Career Summit, hosted by Patriot's Promise, broke every record set by its predecessors. More than 500 job-seeking veterans registered, 80 employer partners committed booths, and by day's end the event had produced over 200 on-site interviews and dozens of immediate job offers — a testament to what happens when employers stop viewing military service as a question mark and start seeing it as an asset.
"Military service is the best training program in the world. We come to this event every year because veterans make extraordinary employees."Participating Employer, Fortune 500 Logistics Firm
The summit featured a full day of programming beyond the career fair floor. Certified career coaches led resume workshops specifically tailored to translating military experience — helping veterans articulate leadership roles, security clearances, and operational expertise in language that civilian hiring managers understand. A LinkedIn profile clinic attracted a long wait list throughout the day, with coaches working one-on-one with veterans to build profiles that get noticed.
On-site interviews produced immediate job offers for dozens of veteran attendees.
Panel discussions with veteran business owners offered a different kind of insight — not just how to get hired, but how to build something of your own. Three veteran entrepreneurs shared their journeys from active duty to business ownership, covering everything from SBA loan programs to the emotional challenges of leading a civilian team after leading troops.
Breakout sessions covered salary negotiation, federal employment pathways through the VA and DOD, and entrepreneurship resources available exclusively to veterans. A first-time attendee called the salary negotiation workshop "the most practical two hours of my post-military life" — she left with an offer $18,000 higher than the initial figure.
"I've been out of the military for two years and felt invisible to employers. Today I had four interviews. Four. One already called back."Navy Veteran, Career Summit Attendee
Employers who attended spanned industries including major defense contractors, regional hospital networks, Fortune 500 logistics firms, technology companies, and federal agencies. Several sent dedicated veteran-hiring recruiters — professionals who understand military rank structures, MOSs, and service branches, making the conversation immediate and meaningful.
Patriot's Promise plans to expand the 2027 summit to a two-day format, with satellite events in Los Angeles and San Diego to serve more veterans across Southern California.
